Biography

Paul ‘Saxy’ Scragg has been playing sax for over 40 years at events all over the UK and Europe.

 

Paul started as a big band jazz saxophonist, playing with Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra and other highly acclaimed outfits. He has played pit orchestras in theatres across the West Midlands for sell out shows and pantomimes.

 

In the 1990s Paul played with the legendary KWS and made many TV appearances to such hits as Please Don’t Go and Rock Your Baby.

 

Paul has played corporate functions, private parties and weddings with the Expresso Bongo Orchestra. Knocking out dance floor anthems such as Superstition, Dancing Queen, Don’t Blame It On The Boogie, Disco Inferno and Nutbush City Limits, to name but a few.  

More recently he can be seen at festivals around the UK with the SkaStuds banging out iconic tunes from The Specials, The Beat, Madness and Bad Manners.

 

Paul has shared a stage with Take That, Paul Weller, Kylie Minogue, Thunder, Sophie Ellis Bexter & more.

You name the tune, Paul has probably played it to thunderous applause.

Paul is an acclaimed solo saxophonist. Currently playing at Isabel’s, as Nathan Dawe’s resident sax player.

 

Providing background music for any occasion. Ed Sheeran, Adele, Lily Allen, Dua Lipa and Lewis Capaldi are a few of the artists he covers.

 

Creating the perfect atmosphere for bars and restaurants with well known tunes from Motown, Abba, Earth Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder and Female Divas to name but a few.
